"Five hints to help you avoid a 'Relapse' or ‘slip’ during recovery..."
Here are some helpful hints to avoid a Relapse or slip, however please go easy on yourself. Experience has shown me that a 'slip' can be a major turning point in a recovery and at the same time I have had a friend die due to picking up his substance of abuse after 4 years sober and clean. It all depends very much on the Grace of God or Higher Power as to what happens.
Best to avoid going back to alcohol or whatever it is your working to move away from.
1. Watch the ‘stinking thinking’- Be aware of negative thoughts, lies, deceit – we all plan our slips
2. Avoid – The old people and old places
3. Work ‘The Twelve Step Program’ – Attend meetings etc
4. Have a bag of ‘tricks’ – relaxing music, talking to a sponsor, daily affirmations, medication
5. Believe in a Power greater than yourself
Relapse means there is something to deal with and it's always SHAME...
